SUMMARY

SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Advisement and Internship Coordinator in the Department of Public Health & Health Education. They will provide course advisement to new and continuing students as well as facilitate recruitment efforts for departmental programs. The Coordinator will assist students in identifying and applying to internships and teach the department's Internship Preparation Workshop. Additionally, the Coordinator will facilitate departmental events.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions

  • Intakes and provides advisement and course scheduling to new majors.
  • Provides orientation to new majors (department policies and handbook).
  • Provides career advisement to new majors.
  • Teaches Internship Preparation Workshop every semester.
  • Facilitates articulation agreements with new internship sites.
  • Assists students with identifying and applying to internship openings.
  • Assists students with resume and cover letter development.
  • Assists students in preparing for internship interviews, conduct mock interviews.
  • Leads recruitment efforts for undergraduate programs (develop marketing materials, attend recruitment events, conduct outreach to relevant populations).
  • Plans and facilitate department events (e.g. Careers in Public Health Conference, Poverty Simulation, Delta Omega Activities).
  • Develops and maintain relationships with community partners and internship sites.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • Experience working with public health agencies
  • Experience planning and facilitating events
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Work Schedule:

37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm
