Position Summary

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Cloud System Administrator to support one of the technical projects with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role will facilitate the semi and fully automated installation of new environments, monitoring, and working with hardened Docker images running in a K8s Kubernetes cluster.

This project represents a multiyear effort for IT Modernization and Transformation requiring tested, secure, and hardened software solutions. The ideal candidate should be able to configure, manage/monitor cloud Kubernetes environments running on Red Hat servers. Experience with Azure is a plus. Looking for a self-motivated individual who proactively completes tasks with a strong attention to detail. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Minimally, the candidate should have Linux, shell scripting, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes and Cloud and VMWare administration experience.

A current DoD Security Clearance of Secret or higher is required for this position.

Job Location: On customer site (Ft. Meade, MD) with telework options. Candidates will need to be on-site at Ft Meade, MD daily for the first few months, then that may decrease based on customer requirements. 

Requirements

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing automation scripts for configuration, backup, and restoration of RHEL and Kubernetes based environments using Terraform, Ansible, and bash/PERL/Python scripting languages.
  
• Administration of automated release operations as well as the advancement of desired state automated CICD Pipelines using Jenkins.
  
• Monitoring the health of Kubernetes clusters and responding to incidents
  
• Providing support for implementation, hardening, troubleshooting, and maintenance of RHEL VMs.
  
• Providing support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution.
  
• Ability to monitor cloud resource key metrics.
  
• Configuring load balancing, Backup/restore and other storage-centric duties.
  
• Configuring monitoring capabilities for Kubernetes (Prometheus, Kibana)
  

Clearance Requirements -  DoD Security Clearance of Secret or higher

Education:

• BS in Computer Science or a related field - 3 years of additional experience in Computer Science in lieu of a degree
  

• 4-6 years of related experience

Minimum Experience:

• Ability to run and troubleshoot Ansible and Terraform scripts
  
• Must have 2 years’ experience with MS Azure, Azure Gov experience preferred
  
• Must have at least two (2) years of experience in the implementation and technical support of multi-system Cloud and Hybrid networks, to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements.
  
• Must have at least two (2) years of experience administering Linux OS environments to include software patching, STIG compliance, and administering Linux VMs in Azure.
  
• Understanding and experience with Kubernetes
  
• Understanding of containerizing applications such as Docker or containerd
  
• Must have a DoD Secret or higher Clearance
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• DOD or DISA Cloud experience
  
• Azure Cloud System/Service Certification
  
• Technical experience and knowledge of peer-to-peer distributed storage networks, peer-to-peer routing, and application messaging frameworks.
  
• Significant experience provisioning and sustaining Cloud network infrastructures and have experience developing, operations, and managing networks required to operate in a secure PKI, IPSEC, or VPN enabled environment.

Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000

The salary range for this position is determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, qualifications, skill level, and location. The final salary offer will fall within this range and will be commensurate with the candidate’s background and the specific demands of the role.
