We are an adult chorus, averaging 40-50 members. We have two concerts per year, and rehearse 10-12 times before each concert. The choir just celebrated our 30th anniversary, and 22 years have been with our current director who is retiring in December.
Our last concert with him will be Nov 14 and Nov 16. Serious candidates may be asked to direct a portion of that concert. If our new director is already selected by then, that person will be introduced to the audience as our new director beginning in 2026.
Currently, rehearsals are at Rolling Hills Church in Lago Vista, Mondays 6:45-8:45 p.m. They begin the last Monday in August for the Fall concert in Mid-November, and the last Monday in January for the Spring Concert in Mid-April.
We also perform a cappella caroling at community Christmas events in Lago Vista and Jonestown, which are optional for choir members, and we perform in the Capitol Rotunda once in April each year.
We have piano accompaniment, and frequently bring in other musicians for percussion or a string ensemble at our concerts. We perform pop music, with typical arrangements by Dan Forrest and Eric Whitacre among others. Our Fall concert tends to be at least half Christmas and seasonal music.
