Job Title: Community Engagement Manager

SUMMARY: An employee in this classification receives general supervision from the Office on Aging Director. This is a senior level position with significant responsibility for the public image of the Office on Aging. This position has high public visibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In consultation with Program Managers and OOA Director, assists with leading, coordinating and implementing department fundraising activities and events, including key signature events, to maintain and expand services as needed.
  • Plans and implements the annual signature event – Aging: A Family Affair.
  • Assists OOA Director with fundraising plans including Planned Legacy Giving, events, appeal letters, capital campaigns and Giving Tuesday.
  • Serves as primary staff selling ads for biannual Aging Well Resource Directory.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with community contacts, partners, and major donors to further the work and mission of the OOA.
  • Assists OOA Director with grant writing and proposals to build and sustain OOA programs.
  • Prepares reports for grants, funding sources and other groups, as needed.
  • Responsible for social media content development, scheduling and publishing including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Assists with donor database maintenance and oversight for OOA
  • Speaks to groups on a variety of aging related topics.
  • Assists OOA Director to develop and maintain media relationships to promote aging issues and OOA programs.
  • Plans and staffs various events and workshops, and OOA participation in local health fairs and community fairs.
  • Responsible for arranging and conducting interviews related to older adult issues/concerns on Knoxville Community Media.
  • Photography as necessary for social media and print media.
  • Serves as back up for Website changes and updates
  • Represents the OOA at meetings held within CAC and in the community.
  • Participates in OOA team approach to planning and problem solving.
  • Performs other duties as needed to ensure the success of the OOA.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Knowledge of computers including word processing and internet.
  • Knowledge of utilizing social media platforms.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, community partners, volunteers, and others.
  • Must relate well to all age groups and income levels.
  • Knowledge of the aging network and local community resources.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work varied schedule if necessary.
  • Ability to plan and self-direct work.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in social services, health/public administration or other related field. Master’s degree, experience working with older adults and volunteers, and preparation of grant proposals preferred. Knowledge of Knox County and its geographic environs is desirable. Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license and a reliable automobile for daily use, mileage reimbursed.
