Are you ready to make a significant impact in the television, broadband, and telecommunications industries? As Director of Product Development and Strategy, you will lead the advancement and expansion of our recently launched Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) platform and lead the development and end-to-end lifecycle of innovative mobile and emerging wireless solutions offerings, driving innovation and engagement across a diverse range of companies within the NCTC membership. Your leadership and strategic insights will shape the product roadmap, fuel growth, and deliver exceptional value to our members and their customers. As the primary liaison between NCTC, its member entities, MVNE/MNO partners, and key vendors, you will develop and deliver cutting-edge wireless solutions aligned with member needs. By fostering collaborative, trust-based relationships, you will ensure high satisfaction and alignment with strategic goals. You will assess product workflows, identify and resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement. Through post-launch performance tracking and data-driven analysis, you will optimize product outcomes, uncover opportunities to enhance value, and strengthen NCTC’s wireless offering.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is: $120,000 to $150,000 annually with bonus eligibility.

Candidates seeking the higher end of the salary range should demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Established Industry Knowledge. Multiple years of direct experience in product development roles within the wireless industry with a firm understanding of OSS/BSS, network and device relationships.
  • MVNO Experience. Experience working with MVNO’s, MNO’s, MVNE’s and affiliated suppliers.
  • Cross Functional Leadership. Experience orchestrating successful key initiatives across multiple stakeholders both internal and external.

Officing Expectation

  • This position offers multiple options can be based full time from our Overland Park, KS office, hybrid (part in-office, part remote) within the Kansas City metropolitan area, or fully remote from anywhere in Kansas, Missouri.

Work Schedule

The schedule for this job is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Define and Drive MVNO Product Strategy: Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategic roadmap for the MVNO program, by analyzing competitor offerings, market trends, and performance metrics and leveraging emerging technologies to create innovative, competitive offerings aligned with NCTC’s mission and market trends.
  • Drive Ongoing Wireless Innovation: Champion the development of new wireless offerings in collaboration with the Technology Innovation team, such fixed wireless broadband or enterprise-grade private 5G networks. Identify market opportunities and leverage emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Coordinate with Technology Innovation, Product Operations, Legal, Marketing, and other internal teams to manage wireless product development, launches, and updates, ensuring compliance with regulations (e.g., FCC guidelines) and seamless integration of third-party solutions.
  • Build and Strengthen Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) and Mobile Network Operator (MNO), and other MVNO ecosystem partners to negotiate favorable terms, align capabilities and analyze performance metrics to identify and resolve program shortfalls, implementing proactive solutions to overcome barriers and drive success. Collaborate with MVNE and MNO partners on product roadmaps, prioritizing features and advocating for changes that benefit NCTC members, such as improved pricing or enhanced network performance.
  • Manage Member Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with NCTC members participating in the MVNO program, ensuring high satisfaction through proactive support and rapid issue resolution in collaboration with the Product Operations team.
  • Drive Sales and Growth: Partner with Business Development and Marketing to implement sales strategies based on member and supplier feedback, achieving growth targets and increasing adoption and retention across the wireless portfolio.
  • Optimize Operations: Work with Product Operations and NCTC strategic partners to establish efficient onboarding, service deployment, and issue resolution processes, escalating critical barriers for timely solutions.
  • Represent NCTC Externally: Act as a positive ambassador for NCTC in relationships with external stakeholders, enhancing the organization’s reputation and influence.

Travel Requirements: Engage in 10-20% travel across NCTC member regions and to industry or member events, which may include weekends

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, marketing, engineering or equivalent relevant experience; MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience related to mobile telephony; preferably in operating, developing or managing mobile communications operating MVNO programs or systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with external customers, coworkers and employees
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external vendor/partner relationships.
  • Must be able to work well and build rapport with all levels of management and staff both internally at NCTC and within member companies and partnerships.
  • Highly motivated, energetic self-starter, passionate and knowledgeable about mobile services, other wireless products, cable, telecommunications and broadband services.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of CRM tools such as Sugar or Salesforce.
  • Experience working with mobile devices a plus.
